Maybee was a history professor at CMU. The Clarke Historical Library has several of his publications and his papers. The Advisory Committee developed plans for major events, publications, re-dedications of campus buildings, presentations, and a historical marker for CMU's 75th Anniversary. The Michigan State Prison (also known as Jackson Prison) was established by law in Jackson, Michigan in 1838. The prison changed its name to the State Prison of Southern Michigan in 1935. The prison closed on January 4, 2002. The prison was under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Corrections, which was established in 1937.
